How we score casino offers
Four questions, each marked out of ten and weighted. The same method for every brand, published here so you can check our maths.
Our scores are editorial opinions. They're not averages of user ratings, and we don't collect any. A score answers one narrow question: how good is this welcome offer, and the site behind it, for an adult in the UK who wants to understand exactly what they're getting?
The four things we score
-
How clear the offer is
30%Can you tell what you get, what it costs and when it runs out, from the offer page and the terms alone? Codes, credit order and caps all count here.
-
How fair the playthrough is
30%The multiple, the deadline, what counts towards it, and how much play it asks of a normal first deposit. Lower and simpler scores higher.
-
Who is behind it
20%The licence holder, whether the UK Gambling Commission account matches the brand, and how easy the company is to identify from the site.
-
The site and its games
20%Only what we can check: the published game line-up, named studios and titles, and how the site is laid out on a phone.
The overall score is the weighted average, rounded to one decimal place. Clarity and fairness of the playthrough make up 60% between them, because those are what decide whether a welcome offer is any use to you.

How we check
We open each offer the way a new UK customer would, from a UK connection, and copy the significant terms exactly as the operator shows them. Then we look up the licence holder on the Gambling Commission's public register and make sure the account number matches. Game counts, studios and titles are only mentioned when the operator publishes them; where they don't, we say so rather than guess.
We re-check offers regularly and whenever someone tells us something has changed. The "checked" date on each review is the last time we did it.
What doesn't affect a score
- How much commission a brand pays us.
- Headline size on its own. A big number with a low cash-out cap doesn't score well on clarity.
- Anything we can't verify, such as withdrawal speeds we haven't seen in the terms.
We should be upfront about one thing, though. We only list brands we have a commercial agreement with, so there are good UK casinos you won't find here. Our disclosure explains how that works.
What a score can't tell you
Whether you'll win. No score, ours or anyone's, can. Casino games are built so the house comes out ahead over time, and a welcome offer doesn't change that. If you only take one thing from this page, make it that.
